Role Summary
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Hub Team. The Volley Hub offers a bundled experience of all our games and is the first point of contact for our users. Hub Team is responsible for enhancing the user’s gaming experience across all television platforms. This team owns the entire user journey, designing and implementing experiments and features that drive business growth by improving acquisition, conversion, retention, and monetization.
As a senior engineer on the Hub Team, you’ll play a critical role in running rapid, data-driven experiments that directly impact Volley’s top-line revenue. You’ll partner cross-functionally with product, design, and data analysts to create seamless user experiences and help accelerate business growth. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in creating an innovative, fun experience in voice-activated gaming across connected devices.
This job opportunity offers a hybrid work arrangement, and we are specifically seeking candidates who are comfortable with on-site attendance in our Bay Area office 2-3 times per week and are either currently residing in or near the Bay Area or willing to relocate for on-site work.
What You’ll Do at Volley
Partner with Product to refine requirements, write technical specs, deliver features from concept to launch.
Collaborate with Design to create delightful, intuitive experiences for users.
Develop a deep understanding of our users and design experiments that drive acquisition, activation, and retention.
Contribute to a fast-paced product engineering team by rapidly delivering new features and building principled learnings through experimentation
Play a critical role in making key technical decisions, balancing long-term architectural health with the need for rapid iteration.
Mentor junior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and maintain a high standard of code quality, architecture, and performance on the team.
We're Excited About You Because You Have
6+ years of software engineering experience with products that have scaled users and/or revenue.
Experience in growth engineering or similar rapid experimentation environments. Hands-on experience with experimentation frameworks, A/B testing infrastructure, and feature flagging systems.
Excellent communication skills, ability to clearly articulate technical tradeoffs and have a bias toward action.
Strong product sense with deep empathy for users, striving to deliver real value to players. Comfortable with data-informed decision making.
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and work across the full tech stack. Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React (or equivalent modern stack).
Bonus Points
Experience with gaming, interactive media, or AI-powered consumer applications.
Prior work on cross-platform products across mobile, smart TVs or voice assistants.

For Pay Transparency: The base salary range for this position is $165,838-$228,028 annually, based on a local (San Francisco) hire. The final offer amount may depend on experience, education, skills, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
