About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Finance team in San Francisco, reporting directly to the Global Process Owner for Accounts Receivable & Collections. In this role, you will own the day-to-day collections and cash application activities for one of Anthropic's global customer portfolios. Beyond steady-state AR operations, you will play a key role in our Invoice-to-Cash automation initiative — assisting in the implementation and optimization of Tesorio to streamline collections workflows and training AI Agents to automate routine customer communications. This role is critical to ensuring global consistency, operational excellence, and scalable growth in our AR function.
Responsibilities
Collections & Cash Application
Manage end-to-end collections for your assigned customer portfolio, proactively contacting accounts to ensure timely payment in accordance with agreed terms.
Monitor aging reports daily, prioritize outreach based on balance, risk, and strategic importance, and maintain DSO targets.
Ensure accurate and timely cash application, investigating and resolving unapplied or misapplied payments.
Prepare and distribute customer account statements and payment reminders on a regular cadence.
Coordinate with regional AR leads and teams to maintain a unified view of global collections activity and performance.
Dispute Management
Investigate and resolve billing disputes, short payments, and customer queries in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Legal teams across regions to resolve complex disputes, including contract interpretation issues and pricing discrepancies.
Track dispute trends and root causes globally, providing insights and recommendations to reduce future occurrences.
Maintain detailed records of all dispute activity and resolutions for audit and reporting purposes.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Serve as a key AR point of contact for Sales and Customer Success teams, providing account-level insights and supporting deal structuring with payment terms guidance to the Credit and Deal Desk teams as a backup approver.
Partner with Legal on contract terms impacting receivables globally, including payment clauses, late-payment provisions, and multi-currency considerations.
Collaborate with Revenue Accounting and FP&A on cash forecasting, revenue recognition support, and month-end close activities.
Support external audit requirements by preparing AR-related schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
Global Consistency & Compliance
Champion Anthropic's global credit and collections policies, ensuring all regional operations — including EMEA, APAC, and the Americas — are fully aligned with worldwide standards and procedures.
Maintain key AR performance KPIs (DSO, aging buckets, collections rates, dispute resolution time, etc.) across the global portfolio in line with targets and benchmarks.
Lead regular global AR reviews, consolidating performance updates across regions and driving alignment on policy changes or process enhancements.
Ensure consistent application of payment terms, escalation protocols, and customer communication standards across all markets.
Invoice-to-Cash Automation — Tesorio Implementation AI Agent Training - Automating Customer Replies
A key strategic initiative for this role is leading the hands-on implementation and continuous optimization of Tesorio as the platform for automating Anthropic's Invoice-to-Cash process. This includes:
Assist in the configuration and rollout of Tesorio workflows across the global AR function, including automated dunning sequences, payment matching, and aging triggers.
Work closely with the Finance Operations and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of Tesorio with Anthropic's ERP and billing systems (e.g., NetSuite, Stripe, Zuora, Workday, SalesForce).
Assist in defining and maintaining automation rules, escalation logic, and exception handling within the Tesorio platform to align with global AR policies.
Monitor platform performance, identify gaps or inefficiencies in automated workflows, and iterate on configurations to improve collections rates and reduce manual effort.
Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on Tesorio, providing guidance to stakeholders and supporting onboarding of regional teams onto the platform.
Assist in documenting all automation workflows, SOPs, and configuration changes to maintain operational continuity and auditability.
AI Agent Training - Automating Customer Replies
This role will also be central to an emerging initiative to train AI Agents to handle routine customer-facing communications within the AR process. Responsibilities include:
Identify and catalog the categories of routine customer inquiries and replies within the AR lifecycle (e.g., payment status updates, invoice clarifications, statement requests) that are suitable for AI-driven automation.
Curate and prepare high-quality training data — including annotated examples of best-practice customer communications — to guide AI Agent development and fine-tuning.
Work iteratively with the AI/ML and Product teams to define AI Agent behavior, tone, escalation thresholds, and compliance guardrails for customer-facing outputs.
Conduct ongoing quality reviews of AI Agent responses, providing feedback and corrections to continuously improve accuracy and customer experience.
Monitor the performance and adoption of AI Agents in production, tracking metrics such as resolution rate, customer satisfaction, and reduction in manual handling.
Help establish governance frameworks and human-in-the-loop review processes to ensure AI-generated customer communications remain appropriate, accurate, and policy-compliant.
Process Improvement and Systems
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline AR workflows, including collections outreach, cash application, and reporting, leveraging both Tesorio and broader tooling.
Contribute to the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of AR tools and technologies (e.g., ERP systems, collections platforms, dunning automation) at a global level.
Assist in maintaining AR policies, procedures, and SOX-compliant controls for the global function, aligned with corporate standards.
Manage and update dashboards and reporting to provide real-time visibility into global AR performance, including DSO, aging, and collections effectiveness metrics.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
