Job Description
AECOM has a position available for a Energy Storage Specialist to strengthen our talented team of engineers and designers working on renewable projects across the country for the US Energy Practice. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.
Our team provides a wide range of engineering services in support of projects across the country with renewable project scopes such as commercial and industrial installations focused on resiliency, efficiency and reliability as well as those utility scale projects seeking to power communities via interconnected networks or high-density installations. Areas of focus include solar photovoltaics (PV), including new technologies in agrivoltaics and floating PV, energy storage (e.g. BESS, supercapacitors), interconnection, wind repowering, next generation energy generation (e.g. fuel cells), new site development and more.
As the specialist focused on energy storage, we are looking for a strong candidate with a power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.
Qualified candidates are those established technical leaders with a diverse background in distributed energy solutions committed to quality project delivery with an interest and curiosity in devising innovative solutions.
The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Support department manager in advancing the culture of technical excellence and accountability
Provide mentorship to other engineers early in their career or in the specifics related to energy storage
Develop task and deliverable list with associated hours estimate and schedule to support business development activities as it relates to renewable and decentralized energy projects
Support the department’s strategic initiatives by participating in industry events and committees
Lead by example in engineering execution functioning as technical lead projects
Perform engineering calculations to support and direct construction deliverables (specifications, reports, drawings)
Supporting projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning
Participating in and presenting at meetings including those requiring occasional travel
Work with Project Managers on developing design schedules and budgets for engineering work activities
Provide quality control reviews of work developed by others
Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of the design work

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Experience must include design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems
Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering
Current professional engineering license (PE) and ability to attain additional states by comity
Minimum four (4) years of experience acting as the lead engineer on a project preferred
12+ years of relevant experience preferred
Participation in professional organizations (e.g. LDES Council, ACP, etc.)
Proficient in power management controls and system design
Highly Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel desired
Experience with other software in the industry such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope, WindPRO,
Experience with system simulation tools such as Homer Pro, Homer Grid, ETAP, etc.
Capable of system financial estimation (Capex, Opex), PPA recommendation and calculating ROI
MV AC Collection System Design Experience
Special design experience: floating PV, fuel cells, agrivoltaics, super capacitors, etc.
Proficient with the NEC, as well as related codes such as IBC and NFPA 855
Deep knowledge of utility practices, industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, UL etc.).
Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish.
Field construction and commissioning experience

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 USD.
