How will you make an impact in this role?
Finance Data Science & Analytics (FDS&A) partners across the enterprise to drive analyses and forecasts for the key metrics and investment decisions across the enterprise. The team leverages the latest modelling and analytics techniques to provide insights on both current and future performance.
This team is focused on advanced analytics (i.e. Machine Learning, Financial Modelling) to help predict, explain, and draw learnings from the AXP P&L trends.
The Financial modeling director will play a major role in developing new models from scratch for the metrics that are important to the AXP P&L. Additionally, the director will research new technologies, tools, and algorithms to find out potential improvement opportunities within the Finance, and will work on prototypes, proof of concepts, and review of current processes, tools and models.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor team members to develop predictive models from scratch as well as enhance existing models
Research and experiment challenger models for prediction and inference
Play an advisory role to enterprise-wide partners with a focus on financial model innovation
Provide training and consultation to uplift the analytics and modelling rigour of the organisation
Strengthen risk control and lead documentation and validation to ensure model compliance
Design, build, and execute projects on advanced technologies and capabilities (e.g., ML, Power BI) to deliver value to the Finance colleagues and business partners
Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge and experience of SQL, R, Python, PySpark, and/or other ML techniques
5 years of professional experience in data science, and working experience in statistical / ML models
Proven track of driving business outcomes via predictive analyses, forecasting, and advanced analytics
Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts to an audience of various backgrounds
BS/MS in a quantitative field - Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in leading decision science teams, and knowledge of card economics preferred
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
PhD in a quantitative field - Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, etc.


Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
