Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 + Benefits

Design Engineer – Custom Magnetic Components Description
Our client in manufacturing is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team near Milwaukee, WI. In this role, you will design and develop custom high frequency magnetics components, including transformers, inductors, and chokes for power electronics. You’ll work with a range of magnetic materials and construction methods to deliver high-efficiency, manufacturable solutions that meet global safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute across the entire product lifecycle – from initial requirements gathering to prototype and production – while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams as well as customers. Design Engineer – Custom Magnetic Components Responsibilities
• Design magnetic components for power electronics (1–500 kHz range)
• Develop with ferrite, Sendust, powdered iron, and other core materials
• Perform simulations and modeling
• Optimize designs for efficiency, thermal performance, and manufacturability
• Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, and other safety and performance standards
• Work with customers to understand requirements and translate into designs
• Collaborate on prototyping and cross-functional design reviews
• Produce and maintain BOMs, drawings, test plans, and spec sheets
Design Engineer – Custom Magnetic Components Qualifications
• 3+ years of high frequency magnetic component design/engineering experience required
• Experience designing transformers, inductors, and/or chokes for power electronics required
• Hands-on prototyping or strong desire to apply theory in practice required
• Proficiency with electromagnetic modeling and FEA tools required
• Proficiency with 3D modeling tools (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) required
